A budget challenge that helps pay for college
We love it when we find examples of win-win opportunities, especially when it has to do with financial literacy and earning a scholarship, and this is one we just had to share. Your high school student can participate in the H&R Block Budget Challenge, a free online financial literacy program that allows students and classrooms to learn and compete against one another in a real world simulation environment. We stumbled across the program when we read about winner, Angela Lin of Sugar Land, TX in this inspiring story. Spoiler alert — she won $120,000 in college scholarship money. Now that’s some serious cash!
With $3 million dollars in scholarships and grants at stake, it sounds to us like it’s an exciting way to learn how to be money smart. And, if your student is among the best, earning some significant cash in the form of college scholarship money or a classroom grant is quite possible. New sessions begin in September, so now’s the time to put a bug in teachers’ and administrators’ ears. For more detailed information about the H&R Budget Challenge, head to the website here.
